Wendy Salkin was a 2016-2017 Student Fellow at the Petrie-Flom Center. At the conclusion of her fellowship year, she was a PhD candidate in the Department of Philosophy at Harvard University, where she wrote a dissertation on informal political representation under the supervision of Tommie Shelby, T.M. Scanlon, Richard Moran, and Eric Beerbohm. Her primary research is in social and political philosophy, philosophy of race, moral philosophy, and philosophy of law. She also works on questions in feminist philosophy, criminal law, bioethics, and legal ethics.

Wendy holds a JD from Stanford Law School and a B.A. in Philosophy and Africana Studies from New York University. After law school, Wendy clerked for the Honorable Judge Rosemary Barkett and the Honorable Judge Adalberto Jordan on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and served as legal adviser to Judge Barkett on the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague.

During her Fellowship, Wendy wrote about health solidarity in a paper entitled “The Ties that Bind: The Anatomy of Health Solidarity.” In Fall 2018, she will join the Department of Philosophy at San Francisco State University as an Assistant Professor.
