The Center for Bioethics, Urban Health, and Policy at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking qualified candidates and candidate nominations for the role of Assistant Director Master's Program. In this inter-disciplinary role you will address the ethical challenges of urban health care, public health status, and policy and work to improve health status for vulnerable urban populations, positioning Temple University as a nationally recognized expert in the field of urban health and bioethics.
The CBUHP is an academic, outreach, and research center dedicated to the promotion of health equity. The Center provides education that exposes students and practitioners to the unique issues and questions that arise in the urban context of density and diversity; integrates social determinants of health into education, service delivery and research, joins with community members to be a voice for underserved and marginalized populations both locally and nationally, and works with policy makers on ethical and urban health care issues that impact service delivery, medical education, research and quality of care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate with three major responsibilities:
Educational – include teaching in the MA Urban Bioethics (MAUB) program and in other bioethics courses offered by the CBUHP throughout LKSOM and University as a whole, as well as serving as faculty and thesis advisor for MAUB students.
Scholarly Activities – include seeking out research funding and conducting research and other scholarly work that supports the mission and enhances the reputation of the CBUHP.
Programmatic – managing the day-to-day operations of the MAUB program, in conjunction with the Director of Education working on strategic planning and development of the MAUB program and collaborating with the Director of Education and Center leadership to develop admissions, marketing, curricula and program evaluation.
Ph.D., M.D., J.D. or relevant terminal degree required
Prior experience and/or strong understanding of a graduate academic environment, goals and needs
Demonstrated skill in the classroom
Demonstrated scholarly contributions to the field
Attention to detail, time constraints, ability to multi-task and work independently
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong Customer Service and Organizational skills
