The Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities in the Institute for Health and Society at the Medical College of Wisconsin invites applications for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This faculty member will also serve as the director of the bioethics graduate program, which offers a Master of Arts in Bioethics and a Certificate in Clinical Bioethics.

The successful candidate will join an active group of faculty with diverse interests in bioethics and medical humanities who engage in teaching, research and service activities. The new faculty member will be expected to direct, teach in, and develop initiatives to further enhance the bioethics graduate program; advise students; develop and teach bioethics offerings for medical students, residents, other health professionals and community groups; participate in clinical ethics committee and consultation activities; and engage in independent and collaborative scholarship and research.

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) with expertise in bioethics. Candidates with a terminal degree in a related discipline (e.g. MD, DO, JD, or equivalent) and a Master’s degree in bioethics or a related field will also be considered. In addition, post-doctoral teaching experience at the graduate level in bioethics or a related field is required. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, and possess strong written and oral communication skills. Candidates who have research, grant writing and publication experience will be given priority.
