The College of Nursing and Health Professions at Drexel University seeks applications for a full- time, 12-month faculty member (non-tenure track) for teaching bioethics in a growing undergraduate program in Health Services Administration.
The program is offered to students in a variety of delivery formats (traditional and online, undergraduate and graduate). Faculty work with a diverse student population, whom we are preparing to enter the growing health services administration field. The Health Administration Department also offers a significant portion of the ethics courses for the College. So, students are drawn from various health career paths. All ethics faculty teach Health Care Ethics and Ethics in Health Care Management. Other possible courses include advanced courses in bioethics and courses that address related topics such as women's health, public health or vulnerable populations.
Priority will be given to a candidate qualified to teach several general health services courses such as healthcare ethics and other health humanities courses. The department encourages the development of courses of interest to students across the College of Nursing and Health Professions. Problem-based learning is also encouraged for advanced courses.
A doctoral degree in philosophy or a terminal degree in a field relevant to bioethics is required. Candidates who are ABD will be considered but completion of the degree within one year of the beginning of the contract is expected. Prior teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
