The Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities in the Institute for Health and Equity at the Medical College of Wisconsin invites applications for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will join an active group of faculty with diverse interests in bioethics and medical humanities who engage in teaching, research and service activities.  The new faculty member will be expected to devote significant effort to supporting the clinical ethics-related activities, including ethics committee service, ethics education and ethics consultation, at several local health care institutions; teach in the bioethics graduate program, in the bioethics and medical humanities thread within the medical school curriculum, and in the bioethics pathway for medical students; advise graduate and medical students on scholarly activities; provide ethics education for residents, other health professionals and community groups, as requested; direct a monthly bioethics and medical humanities seminar series; and engage in independent and collaborative empirical research in bioethics and health equity.

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) with expertise in bioethics and, specifically, pediatric ethics. Candidates with a terminal degree in a related discipline (e.g. MD, DO, JD, or equivalent) and a Master’s degree in bioethics or a related field will also be considered.  The clinical ethics-related responsibilities of this position require specific expertise in pediatric ethics.  In addition, teaching experience at the graduate level in bioethics or a related field is required, as is demonstrated research, grant writing and publication experience.  Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Interested individuals who meet the application requirements are encouraged to complete the online application and submit a letter of interest, CV and contact information for three references.
