Call for Papers: Data-driven Health Care Conference
Ewha Institute for Biomedical Law & Ethics, South Korea
Deadline: June 15, 2017
1. Conference Description
The Ewha Institute for Biomedical Law & Ethics (EIBLE) is seeking submissions for its annual conference to be held on September 23, 2017 in Seoul. This year’s theme will be “Data-driven Health Care.” The evidence-based nature of health care has induced the collection, analysis and usage of an incredibly large amount of data. With the advance of machine learning, health care data may be put to use in ways that were not considered to be possible in the past. The field of Korean bioethics research is especially keen on these changes: currently, three hospitals in the country have adopted artificial intelligence-based oncology systems, and it boasts large sets of population-level health data thanks to its National Health Insurance Plan. Yet what are the social or legal implications of these changes and opportunities, in Korea and elsewhere? This year’s conference aims to address those issues.
We are interested in a broad range of topics, including (but not limited to):
Artificial intelligence in health care
The tension between protection and sharing of genomic data
The doctor-patient relationship under data-driven health care
Data privacy law
The right to be forgotten in health care
