The Biomedical Ethics Research Program

The Biomedical Ethics Research Program at Mayo Clinic provides institutional and national leadership on ethical issues raised by translational research and integration of new medical technologies into patient care, through research, service, education, and outreach. Program faculty members assess and address difficult questions about right and wrong in medicine and biomedical science while they conduct rigorous research, teach, and engage in policy discussions about ethical questions.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must possess a PhD, MD, JD or other relevant terminal degree and be engaged in scholarly activities in the field of biomedical ethics.

Candidates are expected to focus their research on ethical issues raised by translational research and integration of new medical technologies into patient care. Topic areas could include genetic research, emerging information technologies, clinical genomics, neuroethics, ethical issues in regenerative medicine and stem-cell based therapeutics, transplantation ethics or other related topics in clinical and research ethics. Candidates should have track records of scholarly excellence or evidence that they will be able to make such contributions in the future. Early-stage investigators with exceptional accomplishments and rigorous training in biomedical ethics will also be considered.

The faculty member will actively contribute to the scholarship and clinical practice of a vibrant, multidisciplinary program in Biomedical Ethics devoted to the full range of bioethics needs of our academic medical center.
