The University of Colorado Center for Bioethics and Humanities is seeking qualified candidates for an open rank, full-time teaching faculty position.

The Center for Bioethics and Humanities develops and implements ethics, humanities, arts and health law educational activities that impact virtually every academic program on the Anschutz Medical Campus as well as undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Colorado Denver and in our local and regional communities.

The Center seeks an individual with a passion for teaching, an exemplary portfolio of teaching experience, and a record of academic innovation and significant publications in bioethics and health humanities. This position will help lead expansion of the Center’s teaching and training programs and will have responsibilities related to both required and elective teaching in bioethics and humanities across all of the University of Colorado’s health professions schools, including dental medicine, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, physical therapy and physician assistant programs.

The Center plays a leading role in the University’s required interprofessional education curriculum and also oversees and contributes to teaching in the threaded longitudinal curriculum on humanities, ethics and professionalism in the School of Medicine, as well as teaching electives in other colleges and schools. The Center is also responsible for some residency training; research integrity training; and a required introductory course for the undergraduate minor in Health Humanities.

In addition to direct teaching activities, this position is responsible for leadership and active participation in curriculum and program development and evaluation, and for mentorship of faculty and students who aspire to further study and training in bioethics and health humanities. Candidates for this position should have the ability to be motivated by and eager to contribute to a diverse, multidisciplinary and interprofessional environment.

Minimum Qualifications
 A terminal degree (PhD, MD or JD) in a relevant discipline.
 5+ years of teaching experience in bioethics and health humanities in a medical or health sciences environment.
 A record of quality scholarship and the promise of continuing to make significant contributions to the discipline and accompanying pedagogy.
 Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
