The Office of Pediatric Therapeutics (OPT), located in the FDA Office of the Commissioner, is seeking a pediatrician with experience in pediatric research ethics. OPT provides ethical expertise for scientific and regulatory issues involving therapeutic and diagnostic initiatives in pediatrics across all of FDA’s Centers. Activities include pediatric research ethics consultations, providing pediatric ethics training to stakeholders within and outside of the Agency, and guidance development pertaining to a wide range of pediatric research ethics issues. In addition to other activities in 2015, the OPT Pediatric Ethics Program delivered 26 external and 13 internal presentations on a range of topics, participated in the drafting of 15 FDA guidance documents, proposed rules or advisory committee briefing documents, provided 47 formal pediatric research ethics consultations to requesting FDA review divisions, and published 7 articles and book chapters.
