TITLE OF POSITION: Program Administrator

DEPARTMENT: Center for Ethics Education, Rose Hill                     

The Fordham University HIV and Drug Abuse Prevention Research Ethics Institute seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as project administrator for this well established NIDA funded program. The Institute, under the direction of Dr. Celia Fisher, provides early career investigators with an opportunity to gain research ethics training with interactive lectures and a 2-year funded mentored research project.  The Institute has 26 alumni fellows and each year admits 5 – 6 additional applicants to the program.


  • Organizing and scheduling program curricula

  • Scheduling and coordination of advisory council meetings and intensive summer training institute, including: coordinating travel, housing, room reservations, teaching schedules, mentor-fellow meetings, technology needs, and food services

  • Administrative support for fellows’ mentored research projects, including: project progress reports, mentor-fellow communications, and project budgets

  • Program budget management across fellows’ home institutions and annual reporting to funding agency

  • Data entry and processing of institute outcome measures

  • Writing yearly project reports

  • Maintaining and generating content for institute website, resources platform, blog, social media (Twitter, Facebook, videos, podcasts), Blackboard account and newsletter

  • Development and implementation of a comprehensive institute promotion and recruitment plan

  • Ongoing communication with institute faculty, advisory council members and fellows


  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • At least one year or equivalent work experience in research, project coordination or other related duties.

  • Experience as a program administrator or project coordinator

  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including web content

  • Experience planning and coordinating events

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Experienced user of MS Office suite

  • Experience utilizing blogs and social media for program outreach

  • Experience in web design or motivation for web design training

  • Familiarity with and/or background in related fields such as ethics, HIV/drug use, and public health

  • Experience or knowledge of HIV prevention field a plus
