Sara Abiola was a Student Fellow during the 2006-2007 academic year. She explored the connection between judicially fashioned standards of care in the medical context and health outcomes for patients. Specifically, she focused on whether broad or narrow constructions of EMTALA’s required medical screening examination is associated with patient transfers and the amount of uncompensated care provided by hospitals.
