Applications are now open for Psychedelics Bootcamp 2025, an intensive training program on psychedelics-related topics in law, medicine, research, and policy from the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School

Deadline: 11:59 p.m. EDT on March 31, 2025

BOOTCAMP DESCRIPTION

The Petrie-Flom Center is pleased to invite applications for Psychedelics Bootcamp 2025.  This intensive training on issues in psychedelics-related law, medicine, research, and policy will run for two full days, July 14 and July 15, 2025.

Made possible by a generous gift from the Gracias Family Foundation, Psychedelics Bootcamp 2025 is part of Petrie-Flom’s Project on Psychedelics Law and Regulation (POPLAR).

We will select attendees with a range of perspectives and backgrounds who will gather in-person on the Harvard Law School campus. Participants will learn the information and skills necessary to become thought leaders in the field of psychedelics, including a nuanced understanding of relevant legal, ethical, and policy issues. Past attendees have included attorneys, clinicians, scientists, scholars, journalists, government employees, advocates, and graduate students.

Space is limited, and you must apply and be invited to attend. Individuals who attended our Psychedelics Bootcamp 2024 are ineligible to attend in 2025.

Attendees are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses. A limited number of partial scholarships will be available.

Topics include:

  • Federal, state, and local law, policy, and regulation
  • The state of psychedelic science: clinical trials and health care sector implementation
  • Indigenous rights and traditions
  • Drug development, commercialization, and intellectual property law
  • Religious use and legal protection
  • Skills training from Harvard University faculty

Requirements for all applicants:

  • Participants must be 21+ of age.
  • We cannot sponsor people for Visas.
  • Contributors to PFC’s June 2024 Annual Conference and attendees at Psychedelics Bootcamp 2024 are ineligible.

KNOW BEFORE YOU APPLY

Before applying, please make sure that you can meet the requirements to prepare for and attend the Bootcamp:

  • Anticipate blocking your calendar for the entirety of the two day Bootcamp. For the benefit of the group, we expect everyone to attend the entire program and participate in every session.
  • The Bootcamp includes two full days of panels and workshops. On July 14th it will begin at 9am and run through dinner that evening. On July 15th it will run 9am-5pm.
  • In addition to the group dinner the night of July 14th, coffee, snacks, and lunch will be provided both days.
  • As preparation you will need to complete approximately 5-10 hours of pre-reading and viewing, plus a 12-18-hour online course, “Zero-L,” which we will provide. Zero-L explains foundational concepts of the U.S. legal system. The pre-reading and viewing will provide background and context for the Bootcamp sessions.
  • The Bootcamp will be conducted in English.
  • If accepted, you will be asked to abide by confidentiality rules related to social media, as well as Harvard Law School’s Chatham House Rule: nothing said at Bootcamp should be repeated in a way that allows the speaker to be identified. No photos should be taken without permission.
  • Journalists are welcome to apply as regular participants but everything at the Bootcamp will be entirely off the record unless specific permission is granted.
  • Participants should expect the experience to be challenging. We hope and expect there will be stimulating discussion and exchange of ideas among the participants. We ask participants to be respectful of others’ opinions, perspectives, and experiences, and to remember that we all benefit from hearing a variety of voices. Disagree respectfully.
