Call for Applications: Director, Health Law Program, School of Law, Boston University School of Law
Boston University School of Law is accepting applications for the position of Director of the Health Law Program and Lecturer of Law. The Director will help manage and grow the program, ensure a quality student experience, maintain our USNWR ranking, and conduct employer outreach to improve graduate career outcomes, as well as manage and expand our grant applications. The Director will report jointly to the Health Law Program Faculty at the Boston University School of Law, School of Public Health, and affiliates, and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
The Director will provide administrative and curricular support to three doctrinal and 2 clinical faculty at LAW along with several affiliated faculty at the School of Public Health and faculty across campus from the Questrom School of Management to the BU School of Medicine. The Health Law Program is ranked in the top 5 of USNWR health law programs and covers the full spectrum of health law, from finances to human rights.
The Director will enrich the student experience for Health Law students at Boston University by:
- Leading a coherent and well-mentored student experience in Health Law, coordinating with admissions, student affairs, career development, student organizations, bench & bar, and alumni at LAW and SPH
- Supporting full-time teaching Health Law faculty in enhancing Health Law classes, including guest speakers and curriculum coordination
- Liaising with the non-full time Health Law faculty (adjuncts), including assisting to select, train, evaluate, support, and retain excellent adjuncts in collaboration with Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
- Leading student mentoring for joint degree programs in Health Law, including JD-MPH, JD-MBA Health Sector
- Coordinating faculty/student programming, including a health law mentorship and externships
- Leading health law communications and cultivating relationships with multiple audiences, including all members of the BU community and local and national health law attorneys
- Grants management
- May serve as the instructor of record for one colloquium class per year, engage in research, writing, and presentation in areas of health law research and/or conduct data analysis
Required Skills
This is a full-time non-tenure track visiting appointment to a three-year initial 12 month term contract, with the possibility of successive appointments as funding allows. Successful candidates will have a JD and strong oral and written communication skills. Teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to mentoring law students or junior attorneys is highly desirable. Knowledge of health law or biotechnology preferred.
