We’ve rounded up the latest news from the past week, January 9-15, 2017, for housing law and equity. The HUD confirmation hearing was, of course, the biggest news, but a few other items of note:

“NYC Lawmakers Push For Audits of Landlords Who Pocket $1.4 Billion Tax Break,” via ProPublica
Increase in penalty to lead violations. See page 3636 for the new penalties for violations of the Toxic Substances Control Act and the Residential Lead–Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act of 1992.
