The Global Health and Rights Project (GHRP) welcomes four affiliated researchers from Argentina for academic year 2025-26.

“There are significant parallels between the politics of the Trump administration and that of President Milei in Argentina, in terms of dismantling aspects of the administrative state, retreating from multilateral institutions and standards in international law, and an embrace of anti-gender politics. Given both parallels and clear differences, as well as evolving geopolitics in the region and the world, we will engage in dialogues throughout the year to extract lessons for scholarship and advocacy regarding health and social equality.”

Alicia Ely Yamin, Lecturer on Law, Director of the Global Health and Rights Project at the Petrie-Flom Center, Visiting Professor of Law at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina

These four scholars each address themes central to the work of GHRP:

Ana Inés Díaz studies the drivers and impacts of judicialization of health rights in Argentina.

Mariana Brocca focuses her research on the care economy, with its direct consequences for population health and social equity.

Solana Yoma works on issues related to the interactions between economic policies, psycho-social health and human rights.

Juan Cruz Goñi has previously written about neoliberal policies and will dedicate the GHRP affiliation to examining the effects of austerity on Argentina’s health system as well as outcomes.
