Marcelo Corrales Compagnucci holds the position of Associate Professor and Associate Director at the Center for Advanced Studies in Bioscience Innovation Law (CeBIL), Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen in Denmark. His expertise lies at the intersection of new technologies, bioscience, ethics and law, with a focus on privacy, data protection and AI regulation.
With a background in consulting and law practice for firms, IT companies, and international organizations like the OECD and the World Bank, Marcelo is deeply engaged in the Inter-CeBIL project and has contributed to various international initiatives including ACGT, OPTIMIS, AI4Gov, MobiSpaces, TENACITy, CLASSICA, and XR5.0. He holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) degree from Kyushu University in Japan, and also possesses Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees in international economics and business law from Kyushu University, law and information technology from the University of Stockholm in Sweden, and European intellectual property law, also from the University of Stockholm. Marcelo was also a former Petrie-Flom Visiting Scholar in 2022.
His extensive publication record in the field of IT Law includes recent co-edited book collections such as “The Law and Ethics of Data Sharing in Health Sciences” (Springer 2024), “AI in eHealth: Human Autonomy, Data Governance and Privacy in Healthcare” (Cambridge University Press, 2022), “Smart Contracts: Technological, Business and Legal Perspectives” (Hart Publishing, 2021), and “Legal Design: Integrating Business, Design and Legal Thinking with Technology” (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2021).
