Saul Glick

International Fellow in Law, Policy, and Neuroscience
2022 – 2023

Saul Glick is the International Fellow for Law, Policy, and Neuroscience for the Project on Law and Applied Neuroscience a collaboration between the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Law, Brain and Behavior (CLBB) and the Petrie-Flom Center.

After graduating with an MA in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, Saul joined London’s Metropolitan Police Service (Met) as a Police Constable (PC). Saul spent most of his time with the Met as a PC in the East London boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets. On the frontline, Saul was a first responder to serious crimes, such as drug dealing, armed robbery, kidnapping, and stabbing. After providing lifesaving first aid to a man suffering a stab wound to the neck in Central London, Saul found himself praised in national newspapers. Alongside frontline responsibilities, Saul successfully undertook the national detective’s examination and co-won a prize for being the best officer in his cohort.

In 2021, Saul won the Kennedy Scholarship, which annually sends British post-grads on full scholarship to either Harvard or MIT. Inspired by his policing experiences, at Harvard, Saul studied the social, biological, and environmental factors that contribute to the risks experienced by children.

In his role as international fellow, Saul aims to improve the procedures used by frontlines agencies, such as the police, during their interactions with children and vulnerable young people.

Alongside Saul’s specific project, he is interested in reforming and optimising various aspects of the criminal justice system; this includes, domestic violence protection procedures, behavioural interventions to increase efficiency, and hiring practices.
