Jonathan Kolstad is Assistant Professor in the Haas Economic Analysis and Policy Group at the University of California Berkeley Haas School of Business and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is an economist whose research interests lie at the intersection of health economics, industrial organization and public economics. Prior to joining the BerkeleyHaas faculty Jonathan was Assistant Professor at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania from 2009 to 2015. Kolstad was awarded the Arrow Award from the International Health Economics Association for the best paper in health economics in 2014. He is also a co-founder and Chief Data Scientist at Picwell. Kolstad received his PhD from Harvard University and BA from Stanford University. He was a Student Fellow at the Petrie-Flom Center in 2007 – 2008. His research topic during his fellowship year was “Information and Quality When Motivation is Intrinsic: Evidence from Surgeon Report Cards.”
